49: Spring Golden Klang Restaurant

Spring Golden Klang Restaurant

Restoran Spring Golden Restaurant
3 Jalan Peniaga U1/34
Hicom Glenmarie, Industrial Park
40150 Shah Alam
Selangor

(Tel : 012-368 8112)

I cannot understand why must the name include two spellings for restaurant. And neither is it in Klang. Then again, my geography is pretty bad; and so is my sense of direction.

Anywhooo, what are we eating today?

Rice.

Rice

Rice: Contains Carbohydrates, Fat, Protein, Vitamin B1, B2 B3, B5, B6, Folate, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc is probably one of the world's staple diet. Too bad it doesn't win the Oscar for this post.

Instead, the award goes to. Drum roll please. Pork. Whoo. Vegans, shield your eyes, cover your ears, plug your ears, then wonder if you have enough limbs to do so.

Pork.

"Sakura" Char Siew

They call this the "Sakura" Char Siew. Only available through pre-ordering, this has to be something special, right?

The meats are imported all the way from Japan Ipoh, which could have come from Japan before Ipoh, I wouldn't know.

Well, not really.

After eating "normal" char siew for so long, this one just seems to lack the kick and the carbon-y bits (mm.. carbon).

I have to admit, it is leaner (maybe melt in your mouth, if I dare say) than the original recipe (O.R. for short, like the chicken at KayEppCee), and maybe more healthier (is there such thing?!). The sauce they use for this is also lighter. So those looking for a "healthier" (is there such thing?!) char siew might be keen on trying this; although, health comes at a price $.

Just to compare, we also ordered the O.R.

Char Siew

It was sweet, more crispy, albiet more rough than the "Sakura" variety. Which is better you ask? I guess you have to decide yourself (I personally find the O.R. better, of course). I'm not Emmanuel Stroobant. I'm not going to down a glass of wine with char siew then talk about it. Well, maybe not now at least.

Siew Cheong

Of course, they're also the siew cheong. Not bad, with a nice texture. It which tasted suspiciously tasted like Taiwanese sausages though (I wonder if they have them in the spicy variety...)

Finally, for sides, theres the wantans.

Wontons

What is lost in aroma, it made up in freshness. The wantans are stuffed (quite bigly) with meat and prawns. You call tell it was fresh. The prawn meat had a bite to it.

Once again, if you have to change to come down here, try it once, just to see if there's any magic in the "Sakura" char siew.

Also, read ugwug's post here (Since I went with her, and it was her who introduced the place to my fam :D)

There probably won't be designer char siew as expensive as the price of petrol just yet, but maybe soon. :x
